The picture area seen on regular TVs also varies, some shift more to the right, others to the left. Video professionals have created two terms - title safety and action safety to address this discrepancy. A title safe area is the space on your computer monitor that titles should not exceed. As a rule of thumb, titles should not come closer than 1.5 inches to the edge of your picture on a normal 13 inch computer monitor. This assures that they will always be fully visible on a video monitor or TV.
